Busy Busy

So, I've been really bad at this lately! haha! My life has been super crazy this semester already. I've been planning the Regional Conference for my professional fraternity that is being held on our campus at the end of this month. I've been working on this for about a year and a half and it is finally all coming together. Here is my current list of things I've already done and things I still need to do.

Done
* Friday night activities
* Food for Saturday (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
* Banquet Location and Caterers set
* Facilitators
* Name tags designed
* Welcome Bags
* T-shirt ideas given to printers
* Itinerary Finished
* St. Jude presentation set up
* Materials on their way from National Office
* Keynote Speaker
* Officers assigned to ask for sponsorships
* Talked to the SOP about sponsoring us

Still To Do
* Order Lanyards for Nametags
* Finish the Program and take to the printers
* Order final number of t-shirts
* Organize participants into committees/workshops
* Seating arrangements for the Banquet
* Saturday night plans
* Placecards
- Banquet
- Formal Meeting
* Call hotel about Registration

As you can see, there is still a lot to do, but the things that are left to do are more of the little/last minute things, so I'm feeling pretty good about things. I am very lucky to have fabulous officers who are working hard to make sure that this happens and it fabulous!

Til the next time!

Recent Purchases

I've been pretty busy with school and now summer school, but I did find some time to do some online shopping. Here are a couple of my most recent purchases.

I bought this swim suit from J.Crew to wear at work (we have to wear one pieces). It is so soft and it looks great on. I love the bandeau top, which is perfect for work (I don't want any gross tan lines). I got it in the navy, but all of the colors are just gorgeous!

These Chaco Zongs are so comfortable. I got them in Zebra Green, which has the brown sole. I have so many flip flops with a black sole, so brown soles are a nice change. I am loving these shoes so far!

I bought a ton of these simple t-shirts to wear and layer. Starting in the fall, we have to wear professional dress a couple of days a week, so these will be perfect with dress pants and a long chunky necklace. This is the same with the v-neck shirts below. I LOVE v-neck shirts, because they are a little more feminine.

I am hoping to be able to go shopping for real soon, but school is getting pretty intense! See y'all soon!

Guess What I Picked Up Today!

I am lucky enough to have one of these about an hour from where I live and go to school. This is perfect for me because I am an active wear snob. Not so much when I actually go to the gym, but more for when I am running around town or going to class. Nike is where it is at. These clearance stores have the BEST deals if you are willing to look for them.

I am a big fan of Nike Tempo running shorts.  I'm sure you've seen them before, they are worn almost exclusively at my university, and for good reason.  They are so comfy and they look good on a variety of shapes.  I am tall and thin, but shorts look awesome on my shorter friends too.  They are also insanely comfortable.  They also come in lots of colors, so you can always look sunny and happy in class.  Another thing that I like about these shorts is that I can wear a variety of sizes (XS - M) and they still look good, the only difference is length (I most often buy the medium because if I wear shorts that are too short I look like quite the harlot).  I usually go for the darker colors because they hide stains better (I can definitely be a clutz), but I do have some of the lighter pairs.  The one problem with these shorts is that they are expensive for shorts ($30 a pair!).  I refuse to pay this much for a single pair of shorts, so this is where the Clearance store comes in!

Today I picked up 2 pairs of shorts and the Tempo Running Skirt for only $46 dollars (that includes tax!)  Here is what I got today.

I am a big fan of just having the piping in a color. I think it looks classic it looks good with basically any t-shirt. The shorts are actually not black, but a dark grey/slate color.

These are my favorite color, and I have been waiting for them to go on sale, and today there they were at the clearance store. These are so cute with the dark green and light green piping.

Here is the skort. It is so fabulous. It is made with the same fabric as the shorts, but it has compression shorts built in (the shorts only have the built in panty). It also has the compression top which keeps any elastic from poking your stomach, which is really important if you are out running. This skirt is so cute. I wear it with one of my little brother's polos and it looks awesome, but it would look equally awesome with a t-shirt or cute tank top.  I love that they stayed true to the original design and used the same style of piping as on the shorts.  I will be wearing this skirt very often!

Do y'all love this store and these shorts as much as I do?  Let me know!

My favorite picture

Me, after dancing all night at VP.  This was not a planned picture or anything, The original can be seen in this post.  This is just me cropped out and edited a little on PicNik.  If you haven't checked PicNik out, you really should.  It is very cool.

WOW

How many of y'all watched Grey's Anatomy last night?  Wasn't it heartwrenching?  Things I loved include: the Chief telling Derek to get it together, Derek crying because he was scared of losing Meredith, "I love you" "I know", the orchid lovers (so sweet), Lexie/Sloan (I know a lot of people don't like them together, but I do!), Bailey, Izzie, and of course, Sandra Oh.  She was fabulous last night.  It was so nice to see Cristina showing some different emotions than normal, and Oh delivered flawlessly.  I have never been the biggest fan of Katherine Heigl/Izzie but last night's episode broke my heart.

Oh, and let's not forget about those interns! They were fabulous, and it was great to see a little more of them. I loved when George told Meredith that her speech was "very Bailey". Didn't the interns remind you of George, Izzie, Meredith, Cristina, and Alex so much? All in all, I think this was one of the best episodes of the season and I am so excited for Elevator Love Letter next week!

My Favorite Things

I've been tagged to share my top 25 favorite thing...so here goes:

1) Friends and Family- This doesn't require an explanation, but I'll give one anyway.  These are the people that keep me going.  They are my unfailing support and I love them for it.
2) My church- I L-O-V-E my church and the Gospel.
3) Nike Tempo Running Shorts- The best shorts I have ever owned.
4) Leggings- Class is just so much better when you wear an oversized t-shirt and leggings.
5) My monogram ring- It is so classic and fabulous.
6) Bottled Water- I know it's so bad for the environment, but I am a serious water snob.
7)Clinique Makeup- It's not cheap, but it's so worth it.
8) Skinny Jeans- They make so many body shapes look great.  They are great for going out!
9) My hope chest- my Grandpa made this for me when I graduated from highschool/turned eighteen, I have been working to fill it ever since then.
10) McCarty pottery- This is made with real Mississippi Mud and every piece is original.  Every girl in my hometown registers for this when she gets married.  I already have my color picked out and a few pieces even though I'm definitely not getting married anytime soon.
11) Mexican Food- we have some seriously amazing Mexican restaurant in my college town.  My friends and I keep them in business.
12) Hanes Classics ComfortSoft V-Neck Undershirts- these are men's shirts, but they are so comfy and they work on so many levels.  Wear them alone for class, dress it up with a scarf or sweater for going out, the possibilities are endless.
13) My Sperry Topsiders- I have two pairs, a pair of mules that are a little dressier than the regular Bluefish, and a pair of Shearling Bluefish (they are warmer than Uggs!)
14) My University- we are definitely overcoming our Mississippi stereotype.  It is definitely becoming very well known and respected.  I love the history and the tradition that we have.
15) Polo Dresses- It doesn't matter what brand it is, these are so comfy.  You can dress them up or down and they look fabulous!
16) Oversized men's polos- I wear my brother's, dad's, and (when I have one) my boyfriend's.  I know it's a little "shackerish" but it's a good alternative to sorority t-shirts and Hane's v-necks.
17) Lilly Pulitzer - let's face it, who doesn't love the awesome shifts and dresses Lilly has.
18) Coach - I haven't always loved Coach, but my opinion changed when I went to Chicago in January.  While shopping on the Magnificent Mile, we met and befriended to owner of the Coach store on the Mile.  We had such a great time and he was such a gentleman, that I will definitely start considering Coach now.
19) Salted Hot Chocolate- this treat from Starbucks is so yummy.  I am always sad when it gets warmer because it means goodbye to Salted Hot Chocolate until it cools down.
20) Pearls - these are so classic and preppy.  Everyday pearls are my favorite look.  I would always choose pearls over diamond, and that is saying a LOT because I love diamonds.
21) Hot Tamales - my favorite candy ever.
22) Baseball- My favorite sport to watch.  This is one of my favorite activities of the spring.
23) Crossword Puzzles- I do one everyday.  I don't usually finish, but I get pretty far.  It is very stress relieving to work on crossword puzzles.
24) My Macbook- her name is Beryl.  She is gorgeous and classic.  I have to get a new computer next year for pharm school and it is very depressing to me.  Beryl is my first love though and I intend to keep her throughout pharmacy school.
25) Wearing dresses in the summer- I certainly try not to dress up in the fall, winter, or spring, but during the summer I am all about looking cute and flirty.  A good sundress goes a long way toward this!

I'm worried this is too serious for the blog...

So, as you all know, I am a sophomore in college and I am studying pharmacy.  The administrators in the school of pharmacy have not been so nice to my class ( I did an Early Entry program, if any one has questions about this type of program, PLEASE email me at pearlsandpeeps AT gmail DOT com).  We've been lied to, had our scholarships cut, taken more classes per semester than any other class, etc.  Well, on Monday, we found out that we're graduating with our Bachelor's in Pharmaceutical Science in May 2010 (ONE YEAR!).  This sounds like a good thing, but it's not.  Why? Because we become graduate students and lose our scholarships (more than 14K a year for me) and girls in sororities are cheated out of a year because of national rules requiring graduate students to pass to alumni status.  And here's the thing, it wouldn't even bother me so much, except we still have to stay at our school's main campus for another year after we graduate instead of moving on to the medical center.  We're stuck as seniors (in age) but as graduate students (in tuition, scholarships, and sororities).  I know it will all work out in the end, but seriously, this is SO annoying to me and to a lot of other people in our class.

Oh, and in addition, I will not be able to graduate from my fabulous Honor's College because there is no way I can do research, write a thesis about it, and defend it before next May because we are being required to take a class all summer.

I know I am complaining here, but this is really not what I signed up for.  It's ok.  It will all work out, but it is just terrible to be lied to like this.

Thanks for listening!

Spring Break!

It's Spring Break!  YAY!  So what does that mean for me?  It means staying at home all week and studying for The Pathogenesis of Infectious Diseases (because I have a test on Monday!).  It means babysitting for the pretty towheads a couple days a week! Yay!  It means deep cleansing rituals for my face to fix it up a little because I've been so stressed out.  It means shorts and t-shirts everyday and possibly going to the Nike Outlet to pick up some more shorts and leggings.  It means Target runs and SnoBiz.

So even though spring break is not as awesome as it could be, I am still excited.  I am excited to get all the busy work done for my classes so that I can focus on studying!

Silly Boys!

So there's this boy (isn't that how it always is?).  I kinda like him, I know he likes me, but we're so different.  I am not even 20 years old yet, he is 28.  I am a silly, vain, and (sometimes) shallow girl.  He was in the US NAVY for 8 long years and is back in school getting a degree.  I am all about my church and my religion, he is anti-organized religion and told me he is almost agnostic (not quite sure how you can be almost agnostic, but whatever).  I don't know what to do.  We are definitely not anything yet, probably not even "talking".  But I think about him, a lot.  We chat on facebook (for HOURS).  What to do.  What to do.  So, here are my questions: 1) is 8 years too much of an age difference when you are 20 and 28?, 2) is he too damaged by his time in the Navy to appreciate my silliness and occasional (who are we kidding, they're everyday) whims?, 3) how can I deal with his agnosticism? I have promised myself I will be married in the Temple.  I don't mind waiting for that, if they man I decide to marry is converted and needs time to be Temple worthy, but I don't want to "flirt to convert" or marry the "Sunday School Project", there is enough of that going on in my ward, and it always ends sadly.

Thanks for the help!
