After dancing until 4:30 am, SLG was not in the mood to be messed with

The whole group (around 5:00 am)

The drive home, DMB slept the whole way, poor kid :)

And there you have it, VP in pictures.  It was amazing.  Police escort, the interstate was closed just for us, SLG was Special Maid Number Four, yummy food, dancing til 4:30 am, breakfast food, hotel room fun, and a long drive home.  A fabulous weekend.

St. Louis

I'm going to do a post just about the VP tomorrow, but, this post is going to be all about the other things we did in St. Louis!

When we first got to St. Louis, we found SLG's house and took "the Tour".  We also chit chatted with SLG's mom (one of my favorite people in the WORLD).  Then we packed up the Montero Sport and headed to Llewellyn's Pub.  It was so yummy, and also where we got one of the best lines of the trip.  Our poor DMB got grouped with us three girls all weekend, but at Llewellyn's, the waitress walked up to him  and goes "Is that Aqua di Gio?"  Unfortunately, it was not, it was Polo Black, but I feel like it probably made DMB's day!

After eating, we went off to see MICDS, where SLG went to high school, and to explore the city a little bit.

When we got back from lunch, we went to the Minton's house where we were staying for the night.  We took quick showers and changed for the meet and greet that SLG's parents had planned to introduce all of their friends to us.  This was so much fun and all of the food was delicious.  I had to best artichoke dip I have ever had in my life and the hummus was also perfect.  SLG's mom also made pomegranate margaritas, which I heard were fabulous.  After the meet and greet we headed to St. Louis Country Club for dinner.

At dinner, we saw EBH, who was crowned queen at the VP Ball and who is also SLG's first cousin.  We also me her brother and her friends from school.  It was so much fun to meet all of SLG's St. Louis friends, they were all awesome!

For Saturday lunch, we ate at MAC, the Missouri Athletic Club, and checked into our rooms at the hotel.  After checking in, we headed back to SLG's house to begin the long night!

More Later!

Packing List

St. Louis Country Club

So, this week I've been packing.  And planning.  And making sure that our directions to St. Louis will be accurate so that we can see SLG for her debut into society.  I just talked to my darling friend CDM, who was my roommate freshman year, and she told me that SLG's parents are not only taking us to lunch at the country club and dinner out, BUT, they are also throwing a cocktail party for us so that their friends and all of SLG's friends can meet us!  How fantastic are they?  Also, we will get to see sweet Zazie (SLG's rescued American Bulldog) who we spent all summer with.  We moved up our departure time to six in the morning (ACK!) , and it looks like I will be the one driving (yuck), but it will all be ok, and we are taking this little beauty to make me happy!

CDM, DMB, and I also picked up some gifts for our lovely hosts.  A few McCarty pieces for SLG's mother, and a Vineyard Vines tie with our college mascot for her father.  They are so sweet for having us all come up that we thought we should get them something special.

Anyway, I am working on getting my excel packing list all typed up so that I can start packing.  Then tomorrow, I can hopefully get most everything packed up before I go for my facial and eyebrow wax in the afternoon.  I know this seems way early, but I have to work all day on Thursday, and then when I get off work, CDM and I are going to get manis/pedis.  I'm so ready for a little R&R.  My to do list is getting bigger everyday I feel like, and I'm looking forward to being able to enjoy this fabulous weekend.  I'll update later!

Finals Week

So, this week has been seriously insane.  It was finals, so that of course added a lot of stress to my life, but I think I ended up doing pretty well overall.  But, I was able to be done with all of my finals by about ten o'clock this morning.  So, since then I've been being absolutely unproductive.   This includes catching up on my favorite shows, packing for VP, helping mi madre with the Christmas shopping, and so much more.  I love these times.

The primetime television is so good this week.  Gossip Girl was seriously amazing.

I am loving that Chuck and Blair are finally getting together.  But, how crazy did those previews look?  I can't believe that we have to wait until January 5th for a new episode.  The Office was great tonight too.  But all in all, I am so glad that this week is basically over.

I go to work giftwrapping tomorrow, YAY! And then I'm off to my friend GR's Christmas/End-of-Finals party, so I'm super excited about that.  On Saturday I'm babysitting the most precious children all day.  And, on Sunday, I'm going with my family to see an old friend who just got married and also at this particular gathering, my oldest friend, ECD, will be there, back from her far away university.  YAY!

Top Chef...and other things

How much are y'all loving this show? I know I am. I have been watching Top Chef since the first season when Harold Dieterle won. Right now I don't have a favorite to win, but my favorite person to watch is Crazy Eyes Carla, for sure. Her eyes make the whole show for me.

But seriously, this season has been awesome. The quick fires and the elimination challenges have been well thought out and they are definitely allowing the cheftestants to show us what they're made of (making a soup out of a meal you had already started preparing, GENIUS!) And the guest judges are also seriously cool. I loved that they brought in people who didn't make the show, how deliciously snarky was that? And, of course I was excited to see my future husband (ha) Rocco DiSpirito there this week.

I mean, look at him. He is seriously fantastic.

In other TV news, Gossip Girl is getting pretty intense, I'm so excited to see how Bart's accident plays out next week and what Chuck is going to sell to the highest bidder, dramatic, no? And Grey's is starting to get decent again, if they would only get rid of Denny. I get it, he's dead, Izzy has a problem (probably medical) but seriously, having her see dead people is not the way to get your fanbase back. It seems trite and silly. That's all for now, Phi Dex is having a Dirty Santa Christmas party, so I have to go get ready for that!

VP Ball

So, my dear friend, St. Louis Girl (SLG), invited some other dear friends and I to go to the VP ball with her in two weeks.  I am so excited about it!  I've had my dress for a while (it's red with a sweetheart neckline and thicker straps), I got my gloves (white, above the elbow) last week, I've picked up the presents for SLG's sweet mother and the woman whose house we are staying at.  I've also told the others going who they need to get presents for.  My momma always taught me to never go anywhere without bringing a gift for your hosts and hostesses.  All that I have to do now is wait for my evening bag to come in.  I love it so much!

I also have to figure out how I will do my hair. This is what is really worrying me. My hair is short, and I've been growing it out, but it's at that awkward stage where its too long to leave down, but still too short for an updo. Oh well, I'm not going to worry about it. It's SLG's big day, and all I want to do is support her in this!

Rainy Winter Days

                                             photo from flickr.com

I don't mind the winter, I really don't (I mean, I'm going to Chicago in January).  I like the feeling of the crisp air on your cheeks as you walk to class, I love the crunch of the leaves beneath your boots (which, obviously, you are wearing with leggings and shorts), and I like that winter means wearing scarves.  What I don't like is when it's rainy and bleak outside in the winter.  I like my cold days to be dry and sunshiny, thank you very much, not dreary and depressing.  Yesterday was one of those depressing days.  It was dark outside and class is just no fun when it looks like it's six at night when it's really only noon.  Oh well, I'm so excited for this holiday season.  It could be the best of my life, I have some incredible opportunities coming up, and I'm definitely going to keep everyone updated about them!

Hi!

Hey y'all!  I've decided to enter this crazy and fabulous world of blogging!  I am really excited to see where this adventure takes me and I am also excited about the people who I hope to meet along the way!
Here is a little bit about me!  I am a 20-year old college girl.  I am studying Pharmacy and I start professional school this fall, but that's just a little bit about my life.  I love being involved in the world (you get out what you put in, right?), all things preppy and fabulous, I'm a grammar/usage/spelling snob, and I have the GREATEST friends and family in the world.  There is so much more, but medical microbiology is calling my name!
